Parents and students in the US and Canada are fighting against schools that have allowed transgender students to use gender-neutral facilities or facilities reserved for the gender they identify with, Breitbart reported.

In rural Oregon, parents of a student at a high school there have filed a federal lawsuit against the Oregon school district for letting Elliott Yoder, a transgender male, to use the boys’ locker room and bathroom, according to an Associated Press report (via Bellingham Herald).

The school’s policy is said to violate the civil rights of the “majority” of students who are not transgender, as explained by Herb Grey, the attorney representing the parents of three current and former Dallas School District students.

“It’s the rights of all the students and their parents and you can’t interpret federal law and state law and impose it on everyone else and say you’re accommodating everyone — because you’re not accommodating everyone.”

More American students and their parents are standing up and rejecting forced gender ideology in their schools.

Not everyone agrees with this. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Oregon and Basic Rights decried the lawsuit and said they would intervene.

“The case targets transgender youth for simply existing and seeking an education,” ACLU Oregon legal director Mat dos Santos said.

“This lawsuit is senseless and cruel but it is not a meaningful threat to the right of transgender students in Oregon.”

Students in one Canadian high school in Namao, Alberta are also opposing their school’s decision to convert the majority of the single-sex bathrooms to gender-neutral bathrooms with multiple stalls. Describing it as “bizarre” and “uncomfortable”, they were shocked to see the change.

Citing privacy concerns, students at the Sturgeon Composite High School have petitioned for the return of the single-sex bathrooms.

“I find it uncomfortable,” student Jacey Taylor told Global News, referring to her use of feminine hygiene products.

“You can hear it,” Taylor said.

To Sturgeon Composite 11th grader Graeme Gibson, the conversion of the bathroom stalls only reflected a small minority of the school population.

“There are absolutely some people that need to be accommodated with the gender-neutral washrooms and that’s totally cool. But that is a minority.”

Breitbart cites polls showing only 28 percent of Americans support the claim that the federal government should be the one determining bathroom policies in elementary and secondary schools. The conservative news outlet said the poll by Rasmussen Reports found in total 64 percent believe the state or local authorities should be the ones deciding the rules for transgender disputes
